Morning Walk Hai’ku
By George Kahumoku Jr

I walk our Five Dogs
Every morning at Dawn
We hear wood peckers
We go up the road
Past Oden , black and white dog
We see deer walk by
In the distance we
Hear a baying Donkey sound
Above cooing doves
Rabbits leap forward
I try to steady the dogs
Cars drive by our walk
Neighbors going to work
Morning air is cold and crisp
Farm hands up early
Picking and weeding
The Flower farm near the road
Smell Jasmine flowers
Taylor and Shanti
Go for their morning walk too
We stop say Hellos

Continue our walk
Past Mita, our fence fighting
Alaska Sled Dog
We past Adobe
House: Historical site
Continue our walk
Halfway on our walk
We turn around and walk back
Down the hill, home
We see snake and hor
arny toad road kill
Crows swoop down to feed
Past hummingbirds feed
Ing on flower nectar
All in a day’s walk
