A Film by David Barry

To witness the Aloha Spirit in practice is to know George Kahumoku Jr. Whether you find him tending his Taro at daybreak or on stage under the evening lights, you will find George with a smile on his lips as he sows the “Seeds Of Aloha.”

There’s a reason he’s been called Hawaii’s Renaissance man: George Kahumoku Jr. is a multiple Grammy Award & Hoku Award winning master slack key guitarist, songwriter, world-traveling performer, high school teacher and college professor, artist and sculptor, storyteller and writer, farmer and entrepreneur. His music, teaching, art, and influence has reached across the ocean from Hawaii to the mainland USA, and all the way to Europe and Japan.

George’s life is a harmonious example of how he is a product of the aina (the land) and the mele (the song), and how the two are connected and work together in a Hawaiian life.

With this in mind, we have produced a feature length documentary on George Kahumoku Jr. titled “Seeds Of Aloha.” This film was shot on Maui, Oahu, Kauai, Hawaii, and on the mainland USA. Thru George’s recollections, and the commentary of 88 of George’s fellow musicians, friends and students we uncover the story behind the stories.

The film “Seeds Of Aloha” is available in a 3 hour directors cut, and a 2 hour 15 minute festival cut. Additionally the film can be cut to length to accommodate any broadcast time requirements. “Seeds of Aloha” is currently being shopped to networks and entered for consideration at various film festivals.

Journey with us from humble beginnings in Kealia Hawaii, to the worlds’ stages as George Kahumoku Jr. sows the “Seeds Of Aloha.”
