Hawaiian slack key guitar is one of America’s oldest folk music traditions, older than ragtime, older than the blues. Even if you are unfamiliar with the Islands, when you hear slack key you immediately know it’s from Hawaii. There’s something about the soft and sweet tonalities that

invokes an image of a gorgeous sunset over a calm and beautiful aqua sea. This album gathers together many of Hawaii’s best musicians to take you there, wherever you happen to be.

At the weekly Masters of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Concert Series on Maui, Hawaii’s best musicians gather to play this unique style of music. This album is the sixth collection of music recorded live at the show. Four of our CD’s have won GRAMMY awards for Best Hawaiian Album:

Masters of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar, Volume One (2006), Legends of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar (2007), Treasures of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar (2008) and Masters of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar, Volume Two (2010). Spirit of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar (2009) received a GRAMMY nomination.
